SEN Teaching Assistant – Derby

Pay Rate: £90–£120 per day (dependent on experience and responsibilities)
Qualification: Level 2/3
Experience: Minimum 6 months’ experience in a UK primary school

 

Education Personnel are working in partnership with a large, well-established Primary School in the DE21 area of Derby to recruit a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for a full-time role starting in January. This SEN TA position will involve providing targeted 1:1 support for pupils with additional needs across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

 

The school serves a diverse local community and has a consistently high SEN intake, including pupils with ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, and social, emotional and mental health needs. SEN support is well embedded across the school, with clear systems in place, experienced leadership, and a strong focus on inclusion within the classroom. Staff work closely with the SENCO and wider support team to ensure pupils can access learning and make progress within a mainstream setting..

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver 1:1 support, making appropriate adjustments to learning activities
• Support pupils across
KS1 and KS2 in line with school policies
• Monitor progress and contribute to intervention strategies
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO
• Attend staff meetings, CPD sessions, and parents’ evenings where required

 

The Ideal Candidate:

• Holds a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant/relevant qualification
• Has experience supporting pupils with SEN in a UK primary school
• Understands inclusive practice in a mainstream setting
• Has strong behaviour management and communication skills
• Is reliable, flexible, and able to work as part of a wider team
